From points North and South
Take I-95 to Exit 1B (Newark - University of Delaware), which is Route 896 North. Follow Route 896 north into Newark, where it becomes S. College Avenue. Follow S. College to the dead end. Turn left onto Main Street and stay in the right lane. Go about one block and at the fork in the road, bear right over the railroad tracks, following signs for Route 896 North. Proceed straight through the traffic light at Cleveland Avenue. Look for an electronic sign and a sign for the University of Delaware - Laird Campus on the right. Turn right after the electronic sign. Clayton Hall is on the right; parking is on the left. For Hotel: Turn right before electronic sign; parking is available to hotel patrons.
From Southern Delaware
Take Route 13 North to the Route 1 Bypass. Follow Route 1 North and exit at Route 896. Follow for a few miles, go over the railroad tracks and make a right at the traffic light, following signs for Route 896 North. Follow for several miles, crossing the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, then Route 40 and I-95. Follow Route 896 north into Newark, where it becomes S. College Avenue. Follow S. College to the dead end. Turn left onto Main Street and stay in the right lane. Go about one block and at the fork in the road, bear right over the railroad tracks, following signs for Route 896 North. Proceed straight through the traffic light at Cleveland Avenue. By Car
From the north: Take I-95 South to Delaware Exit 1-B, Route 896 North. Continue straight on this road (past the football stadium and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources), which becomes South College Avenue (see "Parking" below).
From the south: Take I-95 North to Delaware Exit 1, Route 896 North (see "Parking" below).
From the west: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike East to Route 283 South. Continue on Route 283, which becomes Route 30 East outside of Lancaster, to Route 896 South. Once you get to Newark, at the dead end, turn right onto Hillside Road and left onto West Main Street. At the railroad tracks, bear right and continue briefly onto Elkton Road. Turn left at the first light (see "Parking" below).
Parking: (parking map) There are a number of parking lots available to visitors on the Newark campus during the business day. These include the Visitors Center lot (lot 41), the Trabant Parking Garage (lot 17), the Center for the Arts Garage (lot 14), and the Perkins Garage (lot 4). A posted parking fee is designated for each lot. Visitors may also pay to park in metered parking spaces.
By Air
Fly to Philadelphia International Airport, just 50 minutes to the north of campus, or Baltimore Washington International Aiport (BWI), about one hour to the south of campus. If you are driving to campus from the airport, follow our directions by car. Otherwise, ground transportation to and from campus is provided by Delaware Express at (800) 648-5466 and SuperShuttle at (888) 258-3826).
By Train and By Bus
AMTRAK trains run between Florida to New England and stop in Wilmington. (Very limited AMTRAK and regional rail service (SEPTA) is available to the Newark train station.) AMTRAK phone number: (800) 872-7245
Greyhound buses run from Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and New York City travel to Wilmington. The Greyhound bus will drop you off in front of the Wilmington train station. Greyhound phone number: (800) 231-2222
From the Wilmington train station, it is a 45-minute express bus ride to campus via the #6 DART bus; non-express buses may take slightly longer. Express buses run every half-hour at a cost of $1.90 each way. Limited taxi service to Newark from the Wilmington train station is also available. DART First State: (800) 652-3278
