  1. What is the average class size for Chemical Engineering courses during and after the Freshman year?
  2. Do you recommend a Chemical Engineering student bring their own computer?

  4. What AP score are you accepting for AP Chemistry? When you accept this score, for what course will the student receive credit?

  6. What are representative salary offers for B.S. chemical engineers in 2006?
  1. Class of 2009 began the year with 89 students. The current class size is 63. The current size of Class of 2008 is 51 and the size of the class of 2007 is 53. We graduated 49 student in the Class of 2006.

  3. We have sufficient computer hardware in the department that we suggest students not purchase a computer until they are certain what they need. Nonetheless a growing fraction of students purchase computers anyway.

  5. We encourage students to consult with the teaching assistant first when they experience difficulty in a course, for a primary duty of teaching assistants is to help students. Most students feel free to ask the professor questions out of class, and the faculty encourage this. If there are needs which go beyond this we will then arrange for a tutor, but we don't have a stable of tutors available for courses at all times.

  7. Chemical engineers (and B.S. Chemists) take CHEM 111-112, General Chemistry and CHEM 119, Quantitative Chemistry, in the first year. The University gives credit for CHEM 111 and CHEM 112 with an AP score of 5; however, we suggest these students take the Honors section of CHEM 111 and CHEM 112 which students find rewarding. Other students elect to enroll in organic chemistry.

  9. Currently, the class of 2006 has 84% placement.
    • 30 (61%) are employed
    • 11 (23%) will be going to graduate school
