While the ordering of spherical particles has been extensively reviewed, there has been significantly less work done with uniquely-shaped anisotropic particles. The overarching objective of my research is to synthesize new structures and analyze their ordering behavior in the presence of AC electric fields. These patterns can be used to create materials with wide photonic band gaps as well as in applications where the ability to change orientations of the particles is needed, such as printing.
