Research Interests

I am working with computational and experimental methods to investigate the cell signaling components relevant to cell adhesion and migration, with the aim of developing therapies for a variety of diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular disease.  Taking a systems approach to understanding cell signaling allows us to model and interpret cell behavior so that we can recommend therapies which consider holistic integration of a biological system's different parts. Specifically, we are investigating how the integrin family of adhesive proteins function as part of a signaling network to regulate cell migration and motility. This is in collaboration with Dr. Ulhas P. Naik, Dept. of Biological Sciences, as part of the IGERT program. Please access the “research statement” document above for more information regarding my personal research interests and philosophy.
